This guide will help you plan your Unomaly installation, install Unomaly in your environment, and configure your Unomaly instance after it finishes installing. Installing and starting to use Unomaly requires you to complete three stages:
- Install Unomaly in your environment
- Configure your environment to send data to Unomaly
- Unomaly builds a baseline of current state based on the data
Plan your Unomaly deployment
Depending on the hardware specifications, a single instance can handle up to 2500 events per second. We recommend installing a distributed deployment for data volumes greater than 2500 events per second.
Recommended minimum hardware requirements
The number of Unomaly instances you need to install depends on the volume of data that each instance will analyze every second. Refer to the following table for the recommended minimum hardware requirements.
|Volume of data||CPU||Memory||Disk|
|Up to 500 EPS||2x 64-bit cores @ 2 GHz||8 GB RAM||500 GB|
|Up to 2500 EPS||8x 64-bit cores @ 2 GHz||16 GB RAM||500 GB|
|More than 2500 EPS||8x 64-bit cores @ 2 GHz||16 GB RAM||1000 GB|
Make sure to select virtual or physical hardware that supports Debian 64-bit.
For geographically distributed environments or environments with extreme performance requirements, contact Unomaly Support for a custom solution.
Network and Communication settings
Unomaly needs access to your network to be able to function, so depending on your environment you may need to change or set up specific network policies on for example your firewall or your cloud environment. See “Network and communication settings” for more details.
Use one of the following browsers to access the Unomaly user interface.
The minimum recommended screen resolution is 1280 x 1024 pixels.
Installing Unomaly takes about 30 minutes. Follow the step-by-step instructions for installing Unomaly on the environment that applies to you. Each instruction links to the required download for the installation.
|Type of installation||Instructions||Required download|
|Physical machines||Install on physical machines||ISO|
|Virtual servers||Install on virtual servers||ISO|
|Cloud services||Install on AWS with the Unomaly AMI
Install on AWS instances
Install on Azure instances
Install on GCP instances
After installing Unomaly, there are a few first-time configurations Unomaly needs before the installation is finished:
- Add a valid Unomaly license
- Enable instance and UI metrics
- Set up email communications
- Create the first user
(Recommended) Navigate to the Unomaly web interface and follow the steps in the configuration wizard.
You can also finish the install from the command prompt using the console menu, “Configure Unomaly using the console”.
